Rafael Ochoa’s art brings a postmodern sensibility to the still life, one of the most enduring of painting genres. His earlier digital works, based on elements derived from Old Master paintings, were created using a unique rendering process he developed over several years. His skills in digital rendering were widely recognized in 2016 when he was recruited by the producers of the hugely successful Wonder Woman movie (released in theatres in 2017) to lead a team of animators. During the past year, Ochoa has taught himself to paint using a conventional brush, palette and canvas with remarkable results, continuing to re-mix elements from images of Classical paintings sourced online. Ochoa completed his MFA at York University, and has been an instructor at OCADU and York University.  His work has been featured in solo and group exhibition in public and commercial galleries throughout Toronto, and profiled in the Toronto Star, NOW, BOOOOOOOM! and High  Fructose.
