Angell Gallery is pleased to present “Works on Paper”, a group exhibition bringing together the gallery’s most intriguing established and emerging artists of 2009. Included in the show established gallery artists Jason Gringler, Luke Painter and James Olley with young up-and-comers Brendan Flanagan, Michael De Feo and Jeremy Chance. While stylistically and thematically diverse, each member of the group brings a uniquely contemporary handling of their materials. From Painter’s forebodingly surreal paper construct, Olley’s detached architectural landscapes to Flanagan’s tumultuous acrylic portraits, these artists each respond to their surroundings in a unique and engaging way.
